Remember these are kids who want to love the game of soccer!
3 KEY DEVELOPMENT POINTS-
- Teach U6 players how to kick a soccer ball properly.
- Teach players to dribble the ball and control the ball. Have the soccer ball at the player’s feet as much as possible.
- Introduce the 3 v 1 passing drill in a square. This will take time for them to understand, so run it quickly and move on to other drills. 3 v 1 will be covered extensively in U8. (See YouTube video below).

Remember these are kids who want to love the game of soccer!
3 KEY DEVELOPMENT POINTS-
- Teach U8 players how to control a soccer ball properly to set up a pass or shot.
- Teach players to dribble, control, pass and shoot the ball. This age group tends to “bunch up” A LOT! Highly emphasizing passing to their friends (teammates) in a variety of drills is the key to minimizing “the swarm”.
- The 3 v 1 passing drill in a square. This will be a refresher from their U6 introduction to this important drill. 3 v 1 should be covered extensively in U8 as this drill holds all the key aspects of both technical and tactical soccer.
